Lebara was created in 2001 by three entrepreneurs. The name Lebara actually comes from the first letters of each of their names: LEon, BAskaran & RAtheesan. Turns out 'LBR' didn't have quite the same ring to it.

Our founders envisioned a company where everyone could stay connected affordably. In 2001, when the industry's standard was high cost for connecting, Lebara offered calls for just 1p per minute, talk about disruption.
